Announcements
Flowers are given this morning by the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts here at Messiah, to thank Messiah for all their support of the Scouting program over the years.
Today is Scout Sunday. This Sunday in February is designated as Scout Sunday across the nation. The Scouting movement here in the US started in 1910, and we're celebrating the 101st Anniversary this year! Messiah Lutheran has sponsored Cub Pack 177 and Boy Scout Troop 177 for over 50 years. The 3 Aims of the Scouting program are: character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness. These Aims are accomplished through outdoor activities, personal growth, leadership development, advancement, and, most importantly, having FUN. Check out the display in the Narthex, of all the various activities we’ve done over the past year. If you know of a young man in 1st through 10th grade, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Lee Cohrs.

Today in Sunday School: The Sunday School lesson focuses on Jesus’ word about salt and light in His Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:13-20. The Bible story tied to this teaching is recorded in Acts 9:36-43, the story of Dorcas. Ask your children about Jesus’ words. When are we salty and shining as lights? How can we lose our saltiness and light? Where does our salt and light come from? How was Dorcas salt and light?
Senior and Junior High Youth are invited for a fun time of bowling and fellowship at Spin Alley, Sunday February 20th . We have booked a lane from 3:00 to 5:00pm. We will be leaving from the church at 2:30pm. Shoe rentals and games are included. Bring along some money for food served at the bowling alley. Sign-up for the event is on the bulletin board outside the youth room.

On Sunday, March 27th, the Wind Ensemble will participate in our worship by accompanying hymns and the liturgy. We will be asking members to house these students Saturday night and prepare a sack lunch for their departure Sunday after the Divine Service.
