Pastor’s AIC class meets this Thursday at 7pm with the continuation of the study on “The Ten Commandments” (We learn that we are not saved by keeping them). Those who have already completed the class are always welcome as drop-ins.
This month we are collecting women’s hygiene products and liquid body soap for Immanuel Community services & Compass Cascade Women’s Center . Please put these items in the lounge basket.
ME, A PASTOR? ME, A DEACONESS? If you have found yourself asking this question or have ever considered studying to be a pastor, now is the time to do something about it! Rev. Tom Zimmerman of Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, Indiana is going to be here at Messiah on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 4-7pm. Come and explore the possibility of entering the ministry. Men of all ages are invited, as are their wives, children or fiancees. Women interested in the deaconess program are also invited, along with their families. Conferences are individual and informal. Reservations are NOT needed. Autumn Evening is October 30th, 5:30 PM, with the meal starting at 6:30 (so little ones might want an afternoon snack). We will have a 35 minute performance of marionettes for the children, youth, (and adults!). We ask that families attending bring potato salad and another side dish to share along with a log to contribute to the bonfire. Enjoy delicious brautwurst, hot dogs, spiced cider, and pumpkin and apple pie! Please sign up on the bulletin boards if you plan on attending.
Share Your Favorite Recipes! We are excited to announce that after 16 years, Messiah Lutheran will be producing a new cookbook! If you have a favorite recipe you want to share or are interested in helping organize the cookbook, please contact Hillary Saalfeld at hillary@messiahseattle.org. You can also find recipe cards on the bulletin and downstairs that you may fill out and turn in to Hillary if that would be more convenient!

Scout Popcorn - Cub Scout Pack 177 and Boy Scout Troop 177 here at Messiah are selling popcorn for their fundraising activity this year. There are various varieties of popcorn - all of them are truly tasty! The funds are used for the Scout activities, such as hikes, field trips, equipments, and fun activities. Please see the display in the Narthex or downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Orders are taken now; delivery and payment will be in mid-November. If you have questions, you can chat with Lee Cohrs. Lutheran Ministry Services Northwest - The Fall Gathering will be held at King of Kings in Renton. We will have a potluck of appetizers and desserts, so bring something to share. Join us for fellowship, food, and fun! November 14 from 2-4 PM.
Change in Fall Cleanup day! Fall cleanup day will now be Saturday morning, December 4th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, instead of November 20th as previously noted. We will be working both indoors and outdoors. Indoors, we will be cleaning, vacuuming and fixing areas that don’t get covered on a weekly basis. Outdoors, we will be raking up leaves and pine needles, weeding, pruning, and doing general cleanup around the church. Bring pruners, rakes, brooms, gloves, etc... Refreshments and a lunch will be provided.
Messiah Youth has a servant event scheduled at the Compass Center. We need six people (high School and Young Adults please) to sign up for the even which will be held on October 23rd. We will meet at the church at 5:15 PM. We also need to provide dessert for approximately 100 people. If you are interested in providing the dessert, please contact Brian Danforth.
LWML Project Day is Wednesday, October 27th from 9:30AM-2:00PM. Please bring a sack lunch.

Today in Sunday School - Our children learn how God used Abraham to rescue his nephew Lot from his enemies. God used His own Son, Jesus, to rescue us from our enemies - sin, death, and the devil.
Mark Your Calendars! On November 21st at 6pm, Messiah will have a congregational meeting to decide a number of important topics. This meeting will decide the future of our Pastoral ministry, set the budget for 2011 and vote on the ratification of constitutional amendments for the Missouri Synod. Please plan on joining us to consider these very important issues.
