Announcements

Our next vicar, Noah Fremer and his wife, Mary have arrived and he will be installed August 8. The reception for Noah and Mary will be during the education hour from about 9:20 to 10:20am.  In this way, people from both services will have the opportunity to meet the Fremers.  A continental breakfast will be served.  Two volunteers are also needed to help in the kitchen that day.  Please contact Margelee Murrell if you can volunteer an hour or so.

Today in Sunday School - As they continue their studies of how God used the elements of nature to help His people, students in Sunday School today explored “Jesus Calms a Storm” (Luke 8:22-25).  Students learned how Jesus showed His car for His disciples.  Discuss the wonderful ways God cares for us also.  Parents might ask, “How did Jesus show His care and concern for His disciples?  How does God show His care for us as His children?”

Today - a mission team from Messiah will be commissioned at this morning’s early service.  Susan Paeth, Ann Melvin, Andrew Melvin, Cheryl Kohring, Katie Kohring, Marcy Doersch, Sue Hewitson, and Linda Hilling (Sue’s sister) will be going to Guatemala on a short-term mission.  They will help staff Holy Cross medical clinic and run a VBS to support the mission outreach of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church in Guatemala City.  A special door offering to help support this mission will be collected at both services today.  We also appreciate your prayers for this mission trip.  There is more information about the trip in a display by the coffee bar.  Thank you for all your support!

More VBS News - There are a few shirts and sweaters left over.  They will be on a card table downstairs for the next two weeks, and then given to charity.
