Please pray for our youth group traveling to the Higher Things Conference in Logan UT. The Vicar and four of our High School youth will be leaving Monday morning for the week long conference. Higher Things is dedicated to delivering rock solid Lutheran teaching shared in a reverent and fun environment. Please pray this will be a fun and enlightening trip for all who attend, as well as for safe travels.
A very special Thank You from Jan Grant for all the prayers, calls and cards she has received since her recent surgery.
One of our members is in need of temporary housing. If you are able to help out, please contact Pastor or the church office at 206.524.0024.

Have you heard? Messiah is hosting it’s 1st Annual “Congregational & Community Appreciation Day” on July 3rd ! We would like to thank both the members of Messiah and our surrounding community for all their wonderful support over the years. The event will be held on the front lawn of the church from 11am to 3pm. There will be hotdogs, popcorn, chips, and cold drinks! Along with food, there will be a face painter and balloon artist for the kids. Volunteers are desperately needed for 2 hour shifts. If you like to help, please sign up on the upstairs bulletin board. Contact Andy Lueck or Marjelee Murrell for more information on this fantastic new event!
The office will be publishing the 2010-2011 directory in July. If you have a change of address, phone number or email address, please contact the church office at 206.524.0024 or office@messiahseattle.org.
Mekane Yesus Ethiopian Mission Church is looking for volunteers to help out with their Sunday School classes and VBS this summer. If you would like to help, please contact Pastor Berhanu Seyoum at 206.371.2938.
Next Month please put deodorants and liquid body soaps in the lounge basket for the homeless, whom we help.
Once again Messiah will be hosting a Seminary Continuing Education Class this summer, August 16-20, 2010. This class is open to all lay persons at a cost of $125. (This year the class is 4.5 days instead of the 3 days of last year’s class) The title of this course is “History and Theology of the LCMS” taught by Dr. Lawrence Rast, JR., Ph.D. This course is an extended consideration of the history of the LCMS with a focus on the last 40 years. Pastor encourages you to attend this class if you are able. Sign up on the bulletin board and register online at www.ctsfw.edu.
Lutheran Ministry Services is having their “Stuff Sale” at Concordia this year on July 31st. Donations are being collected in the container behind the school on the following Saturdays: July 10th & 24th between the hours of 9am and 12pm. They are in need of volunteers who would be willing to be the “attendants” at the container when people drop off items. Please contact Cheryl Kohring at 206.364.5324.
Today in Sunday School students studied “God Answers Gideon’s Prayer with Dew” (Judges 6:36-40). Share with our Sunday School students how God used Gideon to fight for His people. Parents might ask, “How did God reassure Gideon of His care for him? How does God reassure us about His care for us?”
A new phone system was installed in May at church. The new system upgrades our phones from the previous 20 + year old system. It handles voice mail better and transferring calls is much easier. The 4 office phones and the 3 hall phones were all replaced. For the hall phones, please press 9 for an outside line. Also, if you want to ring the office press 101 or for Pastor 103 or Vicar 104. If you want to hear the auto attended answering system, give the church a call during off-hours.
